Who We Are
PRESIDENT: DEBORAH HUNDLEY
Deborah's background in education, pastoral ministry, and finance have prepared for her current challenge to help new Americans and other low income residents to become part of the American dream. Several years ago at a chance encounter, she had the opportunity to help new Americans who were stranded at LaGuardia airport: she helped two families from Burma navigate a complex situation due to a weather cancellation. After she brought them to Syracuse to meet relatives, the Burmese elder pleaded with her to help his people. He told her how they needed Americans to "walk alongside" these new Americans. Syracuse has so many new immigrants who some have difficulty getting a job due to language, transportation, and few job opportunities. After meeting so many people who want a job but cannot accept one due to lack of transportation,
Other low income citizens also have similar needs and the transportation barriers are impediments that need resolution.
Deborah and a group of others began Providence Services of Syracuse.
